FAQ

Q: How do I configure the system to accept job submissions from a specific email address?

I've looked at article 124 in your knowledge base, but I'm still a bit stumped.

Our email system is not setup to accept POP3 emails. How can I set up POP3 on our system?

A: In order for VersaSRS to accept job submission via email, you must have a POP3 enabled mailbox. (Minimum System Requirement).

If you cannot enable your corporate mail server to support POP3 you could look at using an alternative mail server just to support VersaSRS inbound mail, such as MailEnable or the mail server available with Windows 2003 Server.

You would still use your corporate mail server to send email (SMTP - based).

To enable POP3 in Exchange 2000/2003:

1.  Enable and start the "Microsoft Exchange POP3" service from the Windows services control panel.

2. Make sure that the "Default POP3 Virtual Server" is started in Exchange System Manager (Under Servers\Servername\Protocols\POP3)

In the properties of the Default POP3 Virtual Server you can also setting access control to only allow connections from certain IP addresses. You can set this to be the IP address of the versaSRS server if versaSRS is the only application that will be using POP3.
